Hemorrhoids:

Hemorrhoids are extremely common. By age 50, about ½ of patients will experience a hemorrhoid problem.   According to the National Institute of Health, 1 million new cases of hemorrhoids develop yearly.

You may notice pain, itching, and bleeding related to hemorrhoids.  Treatment with creams, suppositories, and dietary changes can help, but persistent hemorrhoids need evaluation by a doctor.  Internal hemorrhoids can be treated without surgery.

Hemorrhoid Banding done at the Endoscopy Center of Oak Ridge:

Using an scope, an enlarged hemorrhoid is found and a rubber band is applied.  The banded hemorrhoid tissue will shrink and resolve.  This procedure is nearly painless, requires no sedation, and patients can return to work after the procedure.  One or two banding treatments may be needed.

Dr. Wray and Dr. Prince are performing banding of internal hemorrhoids.  Our patients have reported excellent results with internal hemorrhoid banding.
